
GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A 24-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on multiple felony charges, including sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a child, following a month-long investigation by local police.
On June 27, 2026, Grand Junction Police Department officers responded to a report of a possible sexual assault in the southwest quadrant of the city. Investigators determined that an adult female had been sexually assaulted by a male who was known to her.

During the course of the investigation, detectives discovered that the suspect, identified as Richard Sanchez-Parra, 24, was also in possession of child sexual abusive material. Detectives developed probable cause and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
On Wednesday, July 22, officers located and arrested Sanchez-Parra. He was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where he was booked on the following charges:
- Sexual Assault
- Assault in the Second Degree
- Sexual Exploitation of a Child
