GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A 34-year-old Grand Junction man was arrested on consecutive days this week after repeatedly trespassing on the same property, fleeing into active traffic, and striking a deputy.
On August 6, Mesa County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to contact the suspect, identified as Jacob Walker, 34, for reportedly littering and trespassing on private property in the 400 block of 29 Road. While attempting to contact him, Walker ran into traffic and began threatening deputies. He fled over the 29 Road bridge, and when deputies attempted to contact him a second time, Walker swung at them, striking one deputy.
Deputies successfully restrained Walker and took him into custody. A safety search revealed drug paraphernalia on his person. Authorities noted that no deputies were injured during the altercation.
The following day, on August 7, deputies again responded to the same property in the 400 block of 29 Road after Walker was found trespassing once more. During this second incident, Walker again attempted to flee on foot, running into active traffic on 29 Road near D 1/2 Road. Deputies followed at a safe distance and successfully took him into custody a short distance away without further incident.
Walker was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility and booked on combined charges from both incidents, which include:
- Harassment – Strike, Shove, Kick (Misdemeanor 1)
- Menacing (Misdemeanor 1)
- Resisting Arrest (Misdemeanor 2)
- Obstructing a Peace Officer (Misdemeanor 2 — 2 Counts)
- Third-Degree Criminal Trespass (Petty Offense — 2 Counts)
- Littering – First Offense (Class C Misdemeanor)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Drug Petty Offense)
