Fire crews and Mesa County sheriff’s deputies responded at approximately 12:29 p.m. to a camper fire at a residence on Mansfield Court in Orchard Mesa. Radio traffic indicated the camper, located about four feet from the house, was reportedly intentionally set on fire by a person living there.
Deputies reported that a male inside the camper was refusing to come out and had threatened to harm himself. Fire crews later reported the fire was not extending into the house and had been brought under control. EMS crews have one male patient that was safely outside of the camper upon arrival with unspecified injuries.
Fire crews quickly contained the fire and are working on extinguishing remaining hot spots in the camper. Law enforcement is on scene investigating the the incident.
