GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A 41-year-old Grand Junction man was arrested on felony arson charges Wednesday afternoon after allegedly setting fire to a camper.
On Wednesday, August 12, at approximately 12:25 p.m., Mesa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 200 block of Mansfield Court following a report of an intentionally set camper fire. The Grand Junction Fire Department also responded to the scene to extinguish the blaze and provide medical assistance.
Authorities reported that residents inside the adjacent home, where the camper was parked, safely evacuated when the fire broke out. The suspect, identified as William Gundelach, 41, was inside the camper during the fire. He was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
After being medically cleared and released, Gundelach was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility. He was booked on the following charges:
- Fourth-Degree Arson (Felony 3)
- Reckless Endangerment (Misdemeanor 2 — 4 Counts)
