GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A bicyclist was transported to the hospital Thursday morning following a collision with a truck near the intersection of Riverside Parkway and South 9th Street.

On Thursday, August 20, at approximately 10:15 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to reports of a crash involving a bicycle and a vehicle.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a bicyclist traveling southbound on South 9th Street struck the side of a truck that was traveling eastbound on Riverside Parkway.

Personnel from the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the bicyclist to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.


A bicyclist was hit by a truck around 10:14 a.m. Aug. 20 at Riverside Parkway and South 9th Street. Fire, EMS and law enforcement responded with lights and sirens to the vehicle-versus-bicycle crash.

The male bicyclist was initially reported breathing but unconscious and was later reported conscious. Civilian medical personnel were assisting at the scene, where the patient was found in the roadway. Authorities requested a traffic closure on eastbound Riverside Parkway near 7th Street.
