LOMA, CO — The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian early Monday morning.
On Monday, August 24, at approximately 2:12 a.m., CSP troopers responded to a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian on Highway 139 at milepost 1, just south of Loma.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 35-year-old man was seated (sitting down) in the middle of the northbound lane when he was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling north. The vehicle dragged the pedestrian for approximately 130 feet before fleeing the scene.
The victim was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced dead.
Vehicle of Interest
The Colorado State Patrol is urgently seeking the public’s help to identify the vehicle believed to be involved in the crash. Investigators are looking for a light-colored SUV-type vehicle.
