LOMA, CO — Two men have been arrested in Utah in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian south of Loma early Monday morning.
The Colorado State Patrol announced that the suspects were taken into custody in Vernal, Utah, by the Vernal Police Department. Both men are currently in the process of being extradited back to Mesa County to face charges.
The suspects have been identified and charged as follows:
- Aaron Mackinnon, 48: Failure to Remain at the Scene/Give Information and/or Aid After an Accident Involving Death (Felony)
- Rusty Vogt, 44: Accessory (Felony)
The arrests stem from an incident on August 24, when a 35-year-old pedestrian was struck and dragged by a vehicle on Highway 139 at milepost 1. The Colorado State Patrol stated that the crash investigation remains ongoing and no official cause has been determined at this time.
