Vehicle vs Building, Ridge Dr & N 12th St

Emergency crews and law enforcement responded shortly before 5:52 p.m. to a vehicle-versus-building crash at the Northwoods Apartments on North 12th Street. An SUV went through the wall of a bottom-floor apartment, prompting residents in nearby units to evacuate for safety.

The driver was initially reported unconscious but was later reported conscious and breathing and removed from the vehicle. The SUV came to rest down an approximately five-foot ledge and required a tow truck with specialized equipment for removal. No additional injuries were confirmed in the scanner traffic.

Update: On Saturday, August 29, at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers responded to the 3500 block of North 12th Street following reports of a vehicle into a building.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to a local hospital by the Grand Junction Fire Department with injuries of an unknown extent. Fortunately, authorities reported that none of the occupants inside the apartment were injured during the collision.

Police have stated that alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. The incident remains under active investigation.
