MESA COUNTY, CO — Colorado Highway 141 is currently closed near Whitewater as emergency crews respond to multiple mudslides and debris that have left a significant stretch of the roadway impassable.
The mudslides have blocked the highway between mile markers 115 and 125. Mesa County Sheriff’s deputies, Mesa County Search and Rescue, and the Gateway-Unaweep Fire Protection District are actively working at the scene. Deputies have completed wellness checks on residents living in the immediate vicinity and confirmed that all individuals are accounted for and safe.
Currently, Highway 141 is strictly restricted to emergency personnel access. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has heavy equipment on site, with additional crews en route to clear further debris located between mile markers 126 and 127.
