Emergency crews responded around 12:35 p.m. to a rollover crash on westbound I-70 near mile marker 27 and the 23 Road overpass. Fire and EMS units were dispatched with lights and sirens after a vehicle reportedly rolled multiple times and came to rest facing the wrong direction in the eastbound lanes, affecting traffic.
Radio traffic initially indicated one driver was not trapped and may have had a back or neck injury. Responders later reported multiple patients and requested additional ambulances. Crews remained on scene investigating and providing medical care.
Additional radio traffic suggests the crash may have been a hit-and-run with a possible involved vehicle pulled over with a blown tire further down the highway. Its possible two adults and two children were occupants of the rolled vehicle. The children have minor injuries.
Law enforcement is in contact with the second involved vehicle.
