Emergency crews responded around 3:00 p.m. to a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 139 near mile marker 33. A white Toyota Tacoma reportedly went off the roadway and landed 30 to 40 feet below the road, with the vehicle on its roof.
The male driver was conscious and reported to have a head injury. Later radio traffic indicated he remained inside or near the vehicle and may have been trapped. Fire and ambulance crews were dispatched, and Care Flight was requested.
Mesa County Search and Rescue is dispatched with a ropes team to assist.

MESA COUNTY, CO — An 18-year-old Grand Junction man sustained moderate-to-serious injuries after his pickup truck rolled off Highway 139 and down an embankment, prompting an extended road closure.
At approximately 2:57 p.m., Colorado State Patrol troopers responded to a single-vehicle rollover near milepost 33, south of Rangely and north of Fruita.
Troopers arrived to find a white Toyota Tundra that had rolled off the shoulder and traveled approximately 30 to 40 feet down an embankment. The driver was out of the vehicle when troopers arrived and was transported to a medical facility for treatment.
Authorities advised that the roadway would remain closed for an extended period while crews investigate the crash and recover the vehicle. Drivers are encouraged to check COTrip.org for updated closure information.
