Emergency crews responded around 2:01 p.m. Sept. 24 to a single-vehicle crash at East Carolina Avenue and South Pine Street. A blue hatchback carrying an older female entered the canal and was later reported on its passenger side, completely inside the ditch.
The woman was conscious and breathing inside the vehicle, and water was possibly entering the car. Fire and law enforcement units responded with lights and sirens, while crews worked to assist the woman and arrange an ambulance response. The extent of any injuries was not immediately known.
Update: Fruita Police stated that responding officers and firefighters safely removed the driver from the vehicle. No serious injuries were reported, and everyone involved is safe.
