GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A 37-year-old man was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly assaulting, stabbing and strangling a woman while preventing her from leaving during a domestic dispute.
On September 23, at approximately 10:16 a.m., Grand Junction Police Department officers responded to the 200 block of South 4th Street for a report of an assault.
According to investigators, an adult male physically assaulted the woman during an ongoing domestic dispute and prevented her from leaving the area. The woman was transported to a hospital for evaluation of serious bodily injuries.
Officers contacted the suspect, identified as Kyle Schlepp, 37, a short time later and took him into custody without incident.
Schlepp was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where he was booked on the following charges:
- First-Degree Assault with Intent to Cause Serious Bodily Injury
- Second-Degree Assault with Injury — Deadly Weapon
- Second-Degree Assault with Intent to Cause Serious Bodily Injury by Strangulation
- Third-Degree Assault
- Domestic Violence
- Felony Menacing
- Second-Degree Kidnapping
