CLIFTON, CO — A 43-year-old Clifton man was arrested Friday morning after deputies investigating reported threats involving weapons located him following a single-vehicle crash.
On September 25, at approximately 9:55 a.m., Mesa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 500 block of 32 Road after receiving a report of an intoxicated individual making threatening statements involving weapons. The individual was reportedly in possession of a semi-automatic rifle and a pistol.
Deputies contacted the person targeted by the statements to check on their safety and learn more about the circumstances. During that conversation, deputies were alerted to a vehicle that had crashed into a ditch near 33 Road and C 1/2 Road.
Deputies located the individual, identified as Travis Lusher, 43, and took him into custody based on the earlier reports that he was armed. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Lusher appeared intoxicated and was uncooperative while being placed into a patrol vehicle to await evaluation by paramedics.
During a search of Lusher’s vehicle, deputies found multiple empty alcohol bottles, a rifle and a pistol, along with accompanying magazines.
Lusher was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where he was booked on the following charges:
- DUI — Driving Under the Influence with Three or More Prior Convictions (Felony 4)
- Prohibited Use of a Weapon (Misdemeanor 1)
- Failure to Appear Warrant
