From the Grand Junction Police Department:
On September 5, 2024, at approximately 9:55 p.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to the area of 3rd Street and Glenwood Avenue for an unattended death. Once on scene, officers found a deceased male with a suspected gunshot wound. The Mesa County Coroner’s Office will be responsible for releasing the identity of the deceased and the manner of death after appropriate notifications have been made. This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public at this time. This is an ongoing investigation and there is no further information at this time.

Scanner audio indicates the victim is a 70 year old male that was reportedly not heard from in a while and had been in bed all week.
