Update: Article updated to reflect victim is an adult female based on statement released from police.

An adult female riding a bicycle was struck by a Jeep in front of Safeway on Horizon Drive near North 12th Street. The victims injuries are serious with an injury to the head. It was reported that the Jeeps back tire possibly ran over her. The victim was awake and talking to responders.

From the Grand Junction Police Department:

On 09/29/24, at approximately 9:50 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a vehicle vs cyclist crash in the 600 block of Horizon Drive, located near the Safeway store. The vehicle remained on scene with the cyclist, an adult female, until first responders arrived on scene. The Grand Junction Fire Department transported the cyclist to the hospital with unknown injuries. This crash is in the early stages of investigation and there is no further information available at this time.
