Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in Arapahoe County

Malachi James Salus, 22, arrested for bank robbery.

From the Grand Junction Police Department:

On 10/22/24, a male suspect entered ANB Bank located at 2399 Patterson Road, indicating he had a weapon in a note shown to a bank teller. The suspect obtained a large amount of cash and fled the bank on foot. The Grand Junction Police Departmentโ€™s Intelligence Unit issued an alert to state law enforcement agencies and to the community about this wanted suspect.

On 10/28/24, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a male matching the description of the suspect involved in the ANB Bank robbery entered a jewelry and loan business in Centennial, Colorado located in Arapahoe County, stealing jewelry and fleeing on foot. The FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force, Arapahoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office, and Grand Junction Police Department worked closely to identify the suspect involved in these robberies and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On 10/31/24, the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force in conjunction with the Arapahoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office and Colorado Springs Police Department located and contacted the suspect, identified as Malachi James Salus (age 22). Salus was arrested and taken into custody. Salus is being charged with Aggravated Robbery and Theft related to the robbery of the ANB Bank in Grand Junction and additional charges related to the robbery in Arapahoe County.

The Grand Junction Police Department would like to thank statewide law enforcement agencies, the FBI, and the Arapahoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office for its collaboration and apprehension of Malachi Salus. The GJPD would also like to extend gratitude to the Mesa County community with their assistance in providing tips and information related to this robbery. The safety of our residents is our highest priority, and we remain committed to working alongside our community to keep our city safe.

This case remains active, and the details of the case are under review by the District Attorneyโ€™s office. There is no further information available at this time.
