From the Grand Junction Police Department:
On November 29, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to Freeway Bowl, located at 1900 E Main Street, for reports of gunshots. Upon investigation, officers discovered there was a verbal altercation that led to three shots being fired out of a vehicle. There were no injuries. Four subjects were detained and released after questioning. Through investigation, officers discovered that the suspect vehicle fled the scene prior to law enforcement arriving.
On November 30, 2024, at approximately 7:45 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of 28 Road and North Avenue for a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle. Jacob Casteel, age 20, and Troy Otterman, age 28, were taken into custody without incident.
Casteel was remanded to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Reckless Endangerment
- Felony Menacing
- Violation of a Restraining Order
- Prohibited Use of Weapons
- Reckless Driving
Otterman was remanded to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Reckless Endangerment
- Felony Menacing
- Violation of a Restraining Order
- Prohibited Use of Weapons
This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no further information at this time.
